Jordan McManus named Lee-Scott Academy’s new varsity volleyball coach
Lee-Scott Academy announced last week that its current junior varsity volleyball coach, Jordan McManus, will be stepping into the role as the Warriors’ next varsity volleyball coach.
McManus grew up playing volleyball and received a few offers out of high school, but ultimately decided to not pursue them. Throughout her time in college, she would participate in the club volleyball team as well as coach other club teams. After graduating from Liberty University in May 2021, she spent time as an athletics relationship liaison for a non-profit organization, For Others Collective.
McManus moved to the area last January after marrying Mark McManus who is currently studying at Auburn University. She said after talking with a few parents who told her about the opportunity to teach and coach junior varsity volleyball at Lee-Scott Academy she applied for the position.
In her first year as the junior varsity coach, her team finished second in the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Junior Varsity State Tournament with a 17-3 record.
“Coach Jordan brings a championship mentality and work ethic to Lee-Scott that will elevate our volleyball program to another level,” Warriors’ Athletic Director William Johnson said in a press release from the school. “We are excited to welcome Coach Jordan McManus to the Lee-Scott Warriors Family.”
“I am really looking forward to developing players not just on the court but off the court as well,” Jordan McManus said.
McManus is ecstatic for her new position at Lee-Scott Academy and believes that it is a great school for her because she gets to be open about her faith and help the students grow theirs as well. She will additionally have the opportunity to teach Upper School Bible class in the fall.
“It is just an awesome opportunity to pour into the next generation,” she said.
